FAQs

The Internship Office will be happy to answer any questions you may have about internships, but is not responsible for awarding internships.

Many companies advertise their internship vacancies in the careers portal on their website or in online job search engines. You can find specific offers for internships in the TU Clausthal careers portal or use the "Links and Services" section, which can help you with your search. You will also find notices in the Study Center.

Another possibility is the regional internship exchange of the South-East Lower Saxony region. The provision of company addresses on the Internet is intended to facilitate the independent search for internships, internship-semester positions as well as Bachelor's and Master's theses and to help you plan your internship and studies in good time.

In Germany, a lead time of 4 - 6 months is generally recommended. If you want to complete an internship abroad, a lead time of 1 year is recommended (application, scholarship, visa, etc.).

Of course, a semester abroad always looks “good” on your CV. However, you should have the intention and make the effort to get to grips with a foreign culture and language. In addition, a relatively long lead time should be planned. If you have any questions, please contact the Internship Office or the Clausthal International Center.

If you start your studies without a pre-study internship or have only completed part of the pre-study internship, you must make up the missing weeks during your studies. A deadline by which the internship must be completed is specified in the General Internship Guidelines (APr) or the internship regulations of the individual degree programs.

One internship week corresponds to the regular weekly working hours of the respective company.

Working hours lost due to vacation, illness, public holidays or other personal reasons must be made up. Overtime worked in accordance with the company's certificate can be used to compensate for missing working hours. If necessary, a contract extension should be requested in order to be able to complete an internship section that has already begun.

If events are held by the university during the student's internship that are necessary for the continuation of the course (e.g. examinations, etc.) and the intern has to interrupt his/her internship for this period, a maximum of 3 days off are permitted. All days of leave in excess of this can be made up in order to receive full recognition of the internship.
